Świat współczesny jest dla dzieci źródłem zarówno radosnych, jak i smutnych wydarzeń, globalnych przemian i wyzwań. Rozważania zawarte w tej książce ukazują problemy, z jakimi borykają się dzieci na co dzień i które są składową ich dziecięcej filozofii życia. Poznajemy dziecko jako podmiot aktywny w swoim środowisku życia wraz z wewnętrznymi przeżyciami, przekonaniami, marzeniami, doświadczeniami i uczuciami, które w zasadniczy sposób kształtują jego tożsamość społeczną. Jeżeli dzieciństwo stanowi o wszystkim, co dla człowieka najważniejsze, to dorośli są odpowiedzialni za rozwój i wychowanie młodego pokolenia. Powinni zadbać o sprzyjające warunki, w których żyją dzieci. Mimo różnic przekonań na temat dzieciństwa w każdym ze społeczeństw, świat dorosłych ma obowiązek zaspokajać ich potrzeby, respektować prawa oraz ich odrębny, choć niesamodzielny jeszcze status.Abstract (en)
The world in which children happen to live and develop today is a source of many joyous events, but also of many sad ones, changes and challenges on global scalę. Many a time it makes them face difficult situations which are still incomprehensible to them. Considerations contained in this book show problems with which they have to grapple everyday and which are a part of their philosophy of life. We consider a child as an active subject in its own life envi-roment together with its inner emotions, dreams, experiences and feelings, which fundamen-tally shape its social identity. If childhood determines everything that is most important for a child, then "we", the adults are responsible for the development and education of the young generation. We should take care to provide favourable conditions for our children to live. It is worth emphasising that in spite of differences in convictions on the subject of childhood in each society, the world of adults should undertake tasks for the sake of children, and the world of adults has a duty to satisfy their needs, respect their rights and their separate, although still not independent status.
